My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc.
In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make little but glorious gardens by ourselves.
COOKING ARTICHOKE (アーティチョークの料理)
Globe artichoke was an unexperienced food for us.
And we tasted it for the first time in our lives.
We harvested an artichoke,
its diameter was about 8 cm
and weighed 181 g.
My wife cooked the artichoke according to how to cook written on internet.
At first, cut of the tips of the petals, cut off excess stem,
and boiled it in water with some lemon juice for 30 minutes.
Then pull off outer petals
Discarded the inedible fuzzy part (immature florets)
covering the artichoke 'heart'.
The remaining bottom of the artichoke is the edible part, 'heart' .
She cut into pieces and I tasted it for the first time.
It had no strong flavor (seemed like Jerusalem artichoke),
