In our main garden adjacent to the new garden, a Gardenia jasminoides is now in bloom. Its flowers are single (six petals) and heavily fragrant. The fruit is used as a yellow dye, which is used for clothes and food.

There is a double-flowered cultivar in our neighbourhood. It is also strongly fragrant and looks more stunning.
